Non-Surgical Orthopedics

  • Dextrose based solution injected into the ligament or tendon to stimulate repair & regeneration. Treating the root cause of many pain conditions. All joints & spine can be treated.

    How many treatments:

Often it is recommended that you receive a Prolotherapy treatment every 4-6 weeks. Depending on the injury it can take on anywhere from 3 to 8 treatments.

  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) utilizes the body’s ability to self heal!

PRP is our blood’s plasma which contain a high concentration of growth factors involved in the healing process. These growth factors stimulate the repair & regeneration of connective tissue in the bone, tendon, ligament & cartilage. This process promotes the development of new blood vessels and stimulates wound healing.

What are the benefits of PRP?

Most patients experience a significant improvement in their range of motion, function, strength and a drastic reduction of pain. These results eliminate the need for medications, cortisone or surgery.

    How Many Treatments Are Necessary?

The number of treatments needed for each patient varies on the level of damage to the tissue involved, number of regions involved in the injury & the quality of the individual’s overall health. The healthier a person is the higher the quality of PRP and heal the ability to heal so fewer treatments are needed. Often 3-5 treatments are recommended, however more may be needed to achieve desired results.

    What is the procedure like?

PRP is an in office outpatient procedure. Once you arrive, your blood will be drawn, processed & injected immediately. Following the procedure it is recommended that you have someone with you to help you drive home. Generally, more than one region can be treated in a visit. There is minimal down time following this procedure. However, it is recommended that you take the rest of the day as a rest day.

How soon can I get back to my regular physical activities?

There can be some local discomfort following the procedure that can last 24 to 72 hrs after the procedure. Some patients may require a mild pain medication. The day of the procedure, it is recommended move freely through your normal day to day activities. It is recommended to take at least 1 full week off of sports & exercise. At 2 weeks post treatment, gently activities can resume just monitor the body’s response.

  • Ozone is a 3 oxygen molecule gas that is used in combination with Prolotherapy or PRP.

The third oxygen molecule breaks off, stimulating the body to heal nad repair the damaged ligament, tendon, cartilage, or muscle.

  • What is Perineural Therapy?

Perineural Therapy can be used as a stand alone treatment or in combination with Prolotherapy. In an acute or chronic injury, the ligaments and tendons are treated with Prolotherapy where the inflamed nerves are treated with Perineural Therapy. When a nerve is inflamed it is called neurogenic inflammation. Often in this type of presentation there is a chronic constriction that is causing nerve entrapment which makes the nerve enlarged and inflamed. By using a solution of dextrose, the nerve entrapment can be release & the dextrose provides nutrients to help the nerve heal.

When a nerve is inflamed, it not only causes pain in the joint but it can be a key contributor to joint, ligament, & tendon degeneration. Perineural therapy can eliminate a patient’s pain immediately although the treatment needs to be repeated 5-8 times for complete pain resolution.

The pain generators are found on palpation, this is the exact site of weakness or instability of the joint causing the pain. The nerve that innervates the joint also innervates the muscles that move the joint and the skin that covers the joint.

Who is a good candidate for Perineural Therapy?

    • Fasciitis

    • Baker’s Cyst

    • Plantar fasciitis

    • Pelvic floor pain

    • Fibromyalgia pain

    • Vulvodynia

    • Costochondritis

    • Morton’s Neuroma

    • Achilles Tendonitis

    • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

    • Compartment Syndrome

    • Peripheral Nerve Entrapments

    • Myofascial Pain Syndromes

    • IT band friction syndrome

    • Restless Leg Syndrome

    • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

    • Post Surgical Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

  • Neural Therapy is a treatment system for chronic pain & illness. It involves the injection of local anesthetic into autonomic ganglia, peripheral nerves, scars, glands, trigger points & other tissues.

In most cases of chronic illness there are changes in the autonomic nervous system which lead to changes in the conductivity. This can have a mass effect on the spinal cord leading to a state of electrical chaos. These abnormal neuronal signals flood the brain leading to a disturbance in the central nervous system, autonomic nervous system and hormonal system. This cycle becomes a self perpetuating cycle.

Neural Therapy attempts to break this cycle by finding the primary lesion that is giving the abnormal signal to the autonomic nervous system. Often the primary lesion is at the site or an injury, scar or subclinical illness such as an asymptotic tooth abscess.

  • An injection of local anesthetic into a muscle knot/adhesion.
